The inclusion of Computer Science as a discipline in the school curriculum dates back only to the nineteen-nineties in India, that is, just a few decades back. The enormous strides it has taken since then in the area of research and development, leading to computerization in all departments of life is something phenomenal. There were many sceptics and doomsayers on the way, all of whom predicted that computerization would only harm us Indians than serve in anyway.
The events of the following decades and especially the last two years have proved them wrong. All industries and organizations, public or private, have gone in for computerization without harm done to anyone, but only benefit. Without virtual connections our lives would have been miserable during this pandemic lockdown. The computerized instruments we use today as a matter of fact, have saved us from dire loneliness and isolation, and enabled us to gain instant communication and social support. Geographical distance could be bridged with virtual proximity. Closed schools could reopen with virtual classrooms, and orphaned students could be re- connected with their loving teachers. Daughters and sons working on distant shores could hold drawing room camaraderie through Facetime. Romeos could meet Julietes with a click. The much-maligned Computer has done it all! It has come to everyone's aid.
